Behind Boatman Lovina is a local captain whose relationship with these waters began long before taking travelers out to sea became his profession.
THE BEGINNING
For Bagus, the sea has never been somewhere he simply goes to work.
It is home.
Bagus grew up in Lovina, on Bali's northern coast, where the sea has always been part of everyday life.
When he was still in elementary school, Bagus lost his father. Among the things his father left behind was a traditional wooden jukung — the small Balinese boat he had used for fishing and taking visitors out across the waters of Lovina.
For a young Bagus, it became more than simply a boat. It was part of his connection to his father, to Lovina and eventually to the life he would build around the sea.
The boat changed. His connection to the sea didn't.
A LIFE AROUND LOVINA

A life shaped by the waters of North Bali.
As the years passed, Bagus continued spending his life around the water — boating, meeting travelers, learning the coastline and understanding the sea.
Eventually, taking guests out became a natural part of that life.
Today, Bagus has more than 10 years of experience as a captain. But there isn't really a single moment when his story with the sea began.
He grew up here.
The original wooden jukung from his father is no longer around. Today he operates a modern fiberglass jukung — stronger and better suited to the way guests experience Lovina today.
AND THEN THERE ARE THE DOLPHINS
For many travelers, seeing Lovina's dolphins is one morning in a longer Bali trip.
For Bagus, they are part of home.

It wasn't something created for marketing. It was simply something Bagus once said — and perhaps it explains his relationship with Lovina better than any tourism slogan ever could.

Bagus had shared a post after taking guests out on the water. Behind that ordinary post was something worth building around: a local captain who genuinely cared about the experience he gave his guests.
At the same time, there was a belief that booking a local experience should feel just as thoughtful and professional as the experience itself.
